An event coming up is the Texas Ranch Roundup in Wichita Falls July 21st 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and July 22nd 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kay Yeager Coliseum at 1000 5th St, Wichita Falls, TX 76301.
There will be activities such as a Festival & Tradeshow, free Kids’ Roundup, Kids’ Stick Horse Barrel Race, West Fork Cattle Dog Challenge, stray gathering, wild cow milking, and Daddy Bob’s Smokewagon serving barbecue. There is a rodeo where 10 ranchers compete to win. The winning ranch competes at WRCA World Championship Ranch Rodeo. After the rodeo on Friday, country singer Randall King will perform as the concert entertainer, Regan Nabors, Director of Marketing and Development with North Texas Rehabilitation Center, explained.
“People get to see what these ranchers do on a daily basis,” Nabors said. “Not a bunch of rodeo clowns, bulls, and things like that. It’s a working ranch rodeo.”
The event was the first of its kind made in 1981 and is organized by the North Texas Rehabilitation Center, ranchers, and volunteers. Other ranch rodeos emulate this event., but what makes Wichita Falls’ unique is it is a fundraiser for the NTRC. A lot of ranches that compete in this event go to numerous ones to have a better chance competing at the WRCA World Championship Rodeo, Nabors said.
“There are numerous sponsors, and we couldn’t do it without them,” Nabors said.
Tickets are $5 for daytime events and $20 for the rodeo and concert together on Friday. On Saturday, the rodeo tickets depend on the seating and can range from 12-20 with kids getting a $6 discount. Buy tickets at https://wfmpec.com/ or the day of at the gate. Guests can park at the Kay Yeager Coliseum for free, Nabors explained.
“Great family friendly weekend environment for not a lot of money,” Nabors said.
