The Johnson County Emergency Services fire departments will be adding 29 LUCAS chest compression systems to their field loadout. Johnson County Commissioners Court approved the purchase of the systems on monday . Commissioners are planning on pay for the equipment by using money from the CARES Act grant. Johnson County Commissioner Jerry Stringer said that “CPR is messy.”“And doing it by hand will tire you out really quick. There’s also the danger of doing it by hand of breaking ribs, which can make the situation worse.” The LUCAS adjusts compressions accordingly to prevent such mishaps and better helps to get air into the patient’s lungs.
